After April’s fruitful Canadian and Brazilian tours, the Puglia Best Wine Consortium flies to China. The Consortium’s producers: "China is akin to the USA in the Seventies – its consumers are developing a remarkable interest in our red wines".
The Puglia Best Wine Consortium (Agricole Vallone, Candido, Cantine Due Palme, Consorzio Produttori Vini di Manduria, Tenute Mater Domini and Tenute Rubino) will return to Shanghai, China, from the 21st to the 23rd of May 2012. China represents the cornerstone of the Consortium’s internationalization effort: with a yearly growth approaching 20%, the fifth highest worldwide consumption volume and a consumer base very polarised towards reds, the Chinese wine market will be a crucial driver of growth for Apulian red wine. Indeed, the format of this year’s mission to China will once again be Negroamaro and Primitivo – fine, sun-kissed reds".
"The Consortium is now selling over 13 million bottles every year: international markets have finally recognized Puglia’s wines as true representatives of Italian oenology - says the Consortium’s President, Luigi Rubino - We must continue to develop our brand in foreign markets, as therein lies the brightest future for fine Apulian wine".
A tasting seminar on Apulia’s most renowned indigenous varieties, Primitivo and Negroamaro, will take place in Shanghai’s Enoteca Italiana (Yishang Wine Business Consulting) on the 21st of May (10 AM – 12 AM); it will be followed by a BtoB event (14 PM – 18 PM) for importers and distributors. These appointments, which will be followed by further seminars and workshops from May to October, will offer an exciting opportunity to discover the true essence of Apulian wine: freshness, elegance, structure and body.
Three wine dinners and wine-of-the-month events will also take place in Shanghai: on the 21st of May Agricole vallone and Tenute Mater Domini will host a dinner at 'Maison de l’Hui', followed by Tenute Rubino and Produttori Vini di Manduria at 'Shanghai Tang' on the 22nd and by Candido and Cantina Due Palme at 'Yeshanghai' on the 23rd. 'We will demonstrate the great pairing potential between Apulian wine and China’s numerous and diverse regional cuisines' says Luigi Rubino; 'this element is of the utmost importance for the success of our wines in this increasingly quality-oriented market'.
From March 2012 to March 2013, the headquarters of Shanghai’s Enoteca Italiana (Yishang Wine Business Consulting) will become 'The Home of Apulian Wine': a showroom where the wines of the Consortium’s associates will be presented to the wider Chinese public by expert personnel, for an entire year.
