Puglia Best WineTenuta Viglione, Santeramo in Colle (BA).

Tenuta Viglione’s origins are rooted in the history of the Zullo family, which has been producing fine wines since 1937 in what today is the DOP Gioia del Colle area. Giovanni Zullo, motivated by a profound passion and love for his land, restructured the firm by refurbishing the ancient Viglione manor house and by moving to organic cultivation. The cellar, placed by the manor house, hosts the latest vinification equipment and the small stainless steel vats. The estate-owned vineyards (approximately 40 hectares) are at the foot of the Murgia Barese plateau, at an elevation of 450 meters above sea level; these hills are the highest geographical point of the Gioia del Colle DOP. Their red soils, mixed with calcareous and siliceous rocks, sit in thin layers above massive monolithic beds which are very dense with marine fossils: a proof of the ancientness of this land, which donates pleasantly fine notes to the wines.
